●Mistake #2: Putting too much weight on, well, wait. Thicker isn’t always better! What you want to look at is density, which is how the fibers come together; they should be close to one another. That is what determines the overall quality of the carpet.
●Mistake #3: Measuring incorrectly. Although it’s always a good idea to take some preliminary measurements yourself as it will give you an approximate idea of the cost; other things have to be taken into account, such as the carpet width. Therefore, take those basic measurements, and then turn it over to a pro.
●Mistake #4: Not considering your lifestyle. Do you have kids, pets or entertain frequently? Do you have heavy foot traffic? These are all things you should consider, because they’re important in helping you select the right carpet for you.
●Mistake #5: Neglecting padding. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t important. Padding is the foundation of your carpet installation and it will affect how it looks and wears. Sometimes it comes with the padding already attached, but if it doesn’t, be sure to get the right type for your installation.
