Three facts about porcelain tile flooring

Three facts about porcelain tile flooring

Porcelain tile is getting more and more popular these days. Large format tiles are trending hot–and porcelain can be as big as 25 X 25.

Here’s what to know about porcelain tile flooring.

Fact #: It behaves differently than a ceramic tile

Many use "porcelain" and "ceramic" interchangeably, but that's incorrect.

Porcelain is a type of ceramic tile that behaves much differently than most ceramics. That’s because of the construction.

Porcelain’s composition includes clay, sand, and glass. It's also fired at higher temperatures.

The result is a heavier and dense product, ideal for busy, high-traffic areas.

Fact #2: It’s non-absorbent

You'll hear much about Kaolin when entering our tile flooring showroom. It’s a non-absorbent clay, making porcelain ideal for use indoors or out.

Remember, though, grout will absorb dirt and stain easily. Our tile flooring experts will advise on the best way to clean it.

Fact #3: Porcelain is stylish

Porcelain tiles come in many colors and designs and can look like anything, including wood and stone.

We carry color-body porcelain. Here, the glaze is closely matched to the bisque, reducing that “white look” of chips and stains.

We'll explain more when you come in to shop for tile floors in Wellington, FL. You'll see designs like the wood look, American Estates by Marazzi, or stone looks like Laurel Heights by American Olean.

Easy to clean

Like any tile, dirt wipes off easily. Sweep and mop with a tile cleaner.

Because porcelain is so non-porous, so it won't harbor bacteria like other porous ones.
