Tile facts you should know

Porcelain and ceramic tile are often spoken of as if they are the same product. However, there are subtle differences that make one better for you than the other. For instance, porcelain is made of the highest quality clay, and fired at the highest temperatures. Because of this, it is denser, harder, more resistant to water, and is the same color throughout. This can give you a wonderfully natural look and helps to hide cracks or chips that might happen over time.

Ceramic is made with lower quality clay, fired at lower temperatures and, while it is still water resistant, it’s not as resistant as porcelain. Because it isn’t the same color throughout, it is often covered with brightly colored glazes that give it a beautiful decorative appeal.

Tile floors are one of the few that are at home in any room. Because of their density and water resistance, they make a great addition to bathrooms and kitchens. On the other hand, they are beautiful and versatile enough to be used in living areas, dining rooms, and foyers as well.

If designing is your thing, you’ll love working with tile. If you can imagine it, it can be done with this floor covering. From calm, plain floors, to decorative mosaics, patterns and styles, you’ll simply love the floor you can create with this material.
